Grammar Courses & Learning Paths
Enroll in a language course, work through CEFR levels, complete quizzes, and add companion vocabulary decks.
1. Available Courses and Levels
Talkey’s structured language content is grammar-first. Available courses currently include English, Spanish, French, German, Norwegian, and Dutch. Portuguese and Italian appear in the catalog as coming soon.
Available courses are organized into CEFR levels A1 Beginner, A2 Elementary, B1 Intermediate, B2 Upper-Intermediate, and C1 Advanced. Each level contains a sequence of focused grammar lessons and quizzes.
Grammar courses and vocabulary decks are separate
Course lessons teach grammar through explanations and exercises. Discover decks provide topic-based vocabulary and are added to your Flashcards library.
2. Enroll and Choose a Tutoring Language
Your tutoring language controls which available lesson translation Talkey tries to load. If that translation is unavailable for a lesson, the web lesson player falls back to English content.
- 1Open Courses and select an available language.
- 2Review the lesson and exercise counts, then choose a tutoring language offered for that course.
- 3Select Enroll. Enrollment is required before signed-in users can open course lessons.
- 4Choose the highlighted current lesson or select any lesson from the CEFR map.
3. What Happens Inside a Lesson
Lessons are delivered as a sequence of readable grammar explanations, examples, tables, exercises, and quizzes. Continue through one step at a time so Talkey can keep the lesson state focused.
- Quiz steps require an answer before Check becomes available.
- After checking, review the result and any explanation before continuing.
- Exercise steps can reveal a supplied answer or correction.
- The progress bar shows how much of the current lesson sequence is complete.
- Finishing records the score and elapsed time and updates course progress.
4. Progress, Scores, and Repeating Lessons
The course map distinguishes not started, current, completed, and perfect lessons. Talkey stores the best useful progress for each lesson and calculates the course percentage from completed lessons.
You can reopen a lesson to review an explanation or improve a score. Repeating a lesson does not create a second course enrollment.
Leaving mid-lesson
The lesson player asks for confirmation before exiting an active lesson. Complete the final step when you want the score and completion state saved.
5. Add Companion Vocabulary Decks
Vocabulary deck progress and grammar lesson progress are tracked separately. Completing one does not automatically complete the other.
- 1On iOS, open Discover from the course area and choose a topic deck such as food, travel, work, or essential verbs.
- 2Preview the cards and choose one of the translation languages available for that course.
- 3Download the deck. It is added to your Flashcards collection and then follows the selected spaced-repetition algorithm like any other deck.
6. Web and Offline Access

No bulk unit-download promise
The current product does not expose the “download an entire course unit” control described by the old guide. Open the material you need in iOS while online and confirm it is available before going offline.
7. Course Settings and Troubleshooting
- Use Course Settings to adjust lesson text size, color theme, and lesson sound effects.
- If a lesson is locked, return to its course page and confirm that you enrolled while signed in.
- If content is unavailable in your tutoring language, switch to another language offered for the course or retry the English fallback.
- If progress differs between devices, allow the completed lesson to save, then refresh the course dashboard.
- Use Report a Problem or Contact Support for missing content, incorrect grammar, quiz issues, or sync errors.
